Clean Out The Kids Room and List it on eBay!
Every few months you should walk through your house and collect various items to sell. Start in the family room..look through that DVD shelf and weed out the DVD's that no one watches anymore. The kids DVD's are especially good- those are great sellers on eBay. The shipping is cheap and easy and with eBay's tools for looking up DVD's by the UPC code or by title allow you to pre-fill all the important information about the DVD. All you have to do is add a little description saying that the item is in good condition or like new and you are set to go. Make sure they have no scratches though- someone will be mad if they buy your scratched one that skips during the best part! If you wrap some paper towels around them or a crumpled up plastic bag you can stick the DVD in a manila envelope and your good to go.
Next stop the kids room.. if you don't have kids then get some because there stuff sells!!! Get out those old video games or better yet the ones you just bought that have never been touched because your kid plays the same game day in and day out! Those also are easily listed because they, too, have UPC codes that eBay has on file. Remember to try and save the game cases when Christmas comes because there will be a day when those games hit the road.
Check out the closet and dresser drawers next. Take out the stuff that was too small, too warm or too ugly for your child and clean it up for its new owner. Just because your kid wouldn't be caught dead in it, doesn't mean someone else won't wear it for their school pictures! Have any name brand items? Those usually do better. I find that boys stuff usually does better than girls- especially when used- but what do I know? Have any special action figures or popular dolls. When your daughter moves on from Dora, talk her into ‘giving' it to some kid who doesn't have any. That's the spirit! I remember when my son handed in a paper to school where he had to draw a situation where he was giving- he drew Mommy at the computer ‘giving' something on eBay. LOL . Anyway, let's get back to your mission. Those special characters always do well. Dora, Diego, Princesses, Pokemon, etc… remember sometimes that stuff if hard to find. Look for clothing with these logos like bath robes or coats that your child outgrew. Gently worn shoes make a good eBay item.. like holiday shoes and shoes that were just uncomfortable or your kid just outgrew too fast to ruin. Moving on…
Okay, you had those kids three years ago and there are no more on the way- get rid of those maternity clothes sitting in your attic- even the bathing suits! While you're at it grab the nursery bedding- you know you have no use for it. Coordinating lamp shades and wall décor-add it to the pile! Someone will be looking for the theme that you once loved and will be willing to buy it (used) for their third kid (the third one always gets the hand me downs). Think about it - that stuff hardly gets touched anyway and chances are they will be in excellent condition - especially since you went through the trouble to keep it in the first place. Baby bottles are also resellable , but chuck the nipples-those are no good. Any other baby stuff? Bouncer seats, strollers, high chairs those are all items that are big sellers, just make sure they aren't recalled or damaged in any way..you don't want to be responsible for some other baby getting hurt.
If you have a tween or teen aged girl and she was once an American Girl collector then you just hit a goldmine! Those outfits and furniture pieces are big on eBay - just make sure she knows you are selling them first. We all know how teenage girls are and you'll be in BIG trouble if you sold her stuff without her knowing! Make sure the outfits have no tears or rips in them without listing that in the description. If you still have a doll in the house take your listing pictures with the doll wearing the outfit just make sure that you tell the bidders that the doll is not included!! If they are really from American Girl then make sure you use the word ‘AUTHENTIC' in the listing because there are so many knock off doll outfits on eBay and you want people to know that yours (even though it is used) is the real thing.
Before you know it you will have enough money to go out Christmas shopping and buy more stuff to fill the overcrowded family room or toy box with. You can easily rack up hundreds of dollars in a week's worth of eBay listings. Happy shopping!
